BuDa is a Center for folklore research and documentation located in Honnavar in the Uttara Kannada region.
BuDa Folklore is the outcome of three decades of intense fieldwork and research related to folk culture.
Started with an aim to understand and record native knowledge, oral tradition and folk culture in and around Uttara Kannada district; the organization has emerged as a focal point for study and research of folk heritage with a vast database on various tribes and indigenous communities of uttara kannda region in Karnataka.
BuDa Folklore is a unit of Janapada Vishva Prathishtana an NGO based in Honnavar, in Uttar Kannada.
The team at BuDa folklore has their roots in education, anthropology and community development.
We are proud to inform you that we have added another location to the BuDa Folklore Map. We are setting foot in Angadibail, 40 km from Ankola town! In addition to our existing centre at Honnavar, the new one at Ankola will offer students and researchers a wider perspective on folk culture, environment and sustainable development.
